Knowing what I know now

With only 46 days until the wedding now, what would I have done differently?  Pushed harder for what I wanted not what H2B and other family members want.

If we cancelled it all now and started again, I would wear the jumpsuit I wanted, let the H2B wear jeans.. having my maids in jumpsuits too, get married at the local registry office and have drinks/nibbles at a local pub after the honeymoon.

A classic elopement with a stylish edge, and CHEAP!  http://popwed.co/2014/10/09/alternative-brides-guide-eloping/

Wedding Stress...

Yes wedding are exciting, but the planning is not always fun... even with an endless budget there are little things to worry about.

I am finding it particularity difficult planning a wedding in the style I didn't really want to keep my H2B and the families happy, especially when it feels like a fight just to get his in put.

What to do?  Leave it and let him organise and accept it probably wont be how you imagined... or just do it all yourself and slightly resent him.

Engagement Sexism?

So we've been engaged now for just over 3 weeks and its been lovely, lots of cards, gifts and happy messages from Friends, Family and Work Colleagues.

I get the pleasure of working with Danny my H2B, and something I noticed was a little sexism between the celebratory comments,

We or I received lots of congratulations... he on the other hand received well done, or comments relating to earning potential.

So size of the ring doesn't just matter to girls, it matters to men in the most primal way.  He how can afford the biggest, obviously is the best!  Before now I always felt pressure that it was just a girl wanting a big sparkly diamond.

and the Groom wore JEANS!

Does your H2B not fancy a a suit for his big day, or you are both feeling a little more casual BIG day... how about the groom and his men wear jeans with a nice shirt and blazer/waistcoat combo?

A little more comfortable for him, bring the whole mood to a more 'fun' level, better suited to smaller weddings?

Here are a few ways to make the best of this look... and not just like a cowboy ;-)

Happy Engagement Day!

So finally after over 7 years together my brother proposed to his long suffering girlfriend... (23 Sep 12)

How it went down: They were away for the weekend, had spent the day at the zoo... then as Leila sadly went for a shower after expecting the proposal to come during the day Ben showed her a video he'd made - with the proposal included : ))

So very cute, I want to see the video so much - maybe they'll let me add it to the blog?  The ring is vintage, bought earlier in the year... pictures to come in a few weeks.

Just under a carat diamond, with platinum flowers and a thin gold band!!

GET THE LOOK: Cat Themed Wedding

If you read my other blog, becky_theblog you'll notice I have a small crazy cat lady aspect to my personality.  So if like me sometimes you love the cat more than the H2B sometimes... maybe you'd like to consider a cat themed wedding.

GET THE LOOK: Bohemian Themed Wedding

I've already done a post on BoHo weddings... which is almost the same, now we are taking a more in depth look at Bohemian themed/styled weddings because the sun is out and the weather is calling for laid back drinks in the park on a picnic blanket : )

Think 70s, think clutter, outside.. flowers... long flowing dresses, lights, a mishmash of things!

GET THE LOOK - Green and Gold Themed Wedding

I got this idea from a viewer suggestion!!  Green and gold themed wedding... very spicy, great for summer, autumn and winter:)  I think this theme is better with fresh green, or a darker bluesy green and a rich dark gold colour... but you can take the idea and add your own inspiration for it to fit your personalities.

Hello new world!

Gals, and Guys I have some exciting news... I have quit my job and will take two months out from May to travel America and Europe.  I am so very happy - I will admit it was risky giving up a good job, stability, my life in London but you get to a point where you have to see the world and make the most of the life you live, don't you?  I don't want to regret anything.  I broke up with my ex H2B, not just because it wasn't working but because I freaked out and felt I had missed my youth...

Until the end of April keep any eye out for my Wedding Theme posts... but if you fancy looking into my travel plans and then my travel experience or just what I get up to in my spare time you can follow me at www.bectheblog.blogspot.com or @becky_theblog on Twitter.

Engagement!

We had been away for along weekend to the Kent coast, and a week before hand I had shown my H2B the ring I wanted... so all a long I was hoping for the proposal to come.  When we returned home and nothing had happen I continued as usual.  The following Saturday came, we were at home cooking dinner in our 'comfy' weekend clothes when he appeared behind me and pulled a box from his pocket...

'You still want the ring?' and there it was, THE ring!!  Of course I said yes.

Turned out the day I had taken H2B to see the ring he had gone back and bought it then spent two weeks walking around with it trying to find the right time.

Making me dinner in our home was the right time for us, it was so personal to who we are.

My engagement ring is a old cut, 1.1 carat diamond from 1880, with 3 diamonds = 0.4 carat either side on a platinum band, bought from Aurum at Grey's Antique Market on Bond Street, London.  http://www.greysantiques.com/
