GET THE LOOK: Star Wars Themed Wedding

If I am honest this is really not my idea for a wedding theme, I am not sure how well it can be done without looking a little silly, but I have scoured the internet for images that I think do it justice! my boyfriend is a big Star Wars fan and think this is great :-)

GET THE LOOK: Lumberjack Themed Wedding

This theme is a little bit more for the boys, lots of red and wood!  Perfect for a relaxed outdoor wedding.  I am thinking spring, summer or autumn!

GET THE LOOK: Birthday Themed Wedding

So I realised yesterday there is a month until my birthday, which got my thinking.. a lot of guys propose on birthdays (is this an easy option?), so could you get married on your birthday or have a birthday themed wedding, after all a birthday doesn't have a theme other than to celebrate!

Engagement Ring shopping... yay or nay?

So do you think it is appropriate to take your boyfriend to look at engagement rings before he's even proposed... maybe months before he does?

When you are with the right person, and you plan to spend the rest of your lives together these conversations do come up, the prospect of marriage, children, houses etc. maybe way before you are ready to take those seteps... but with the knowledge that one day you will be proposed to (finger crossed nothing goes wrong) is it not okay to give them an idea of what kind of ring you would be happy to have on your finger for the rest of your lives?

I certainly think so, in fact when I was previously engaged, I had taken my partner to see the ring I had picked out - he hadn't even prosed!

Now I am in another serious relationship, we've been together a year, living together for 3 months, and the conversations of engagements, weddings, babies, houses are all starting to arise...  should I let him know my taste now or does that just make the man feel pressured, not that I am asking for it now now now?

I just want to party!

So after my last attempt at getting married and my recent experience of weddings and I am fortunate enough to get engaged again I will be having a 'run away' wedding... and then a party at the local pub later for all the friends and family who weren't invited...

No dress code, no first dance, no cake, no limit on plus ones, no seating plan, no wedding list.

I am seeing a local pub, spring or summer time, a couple of drinks then a pay bar, some food but nothing specific, a late afternoon evening 'do' - come as you please, bring who you please.  Get drunk and celebrate.

If people want to leave a message in a guest book I am not against that, be good if we had a instant camera and I am more than happy to accept gifts not that we'll expect it!

Wedding Envy... I has it!

So it seems all my friends, all my Facebook friends, all my boyfriends friends, all my work colleagues and all the celebrities are getting married.  Everyone but me!

At first it was exciting, and I love to see the different ideas everyone had and all the pretty dresses... now I am realising that I wont be getting married for at least another TWO years!  This makes me sad, but I am not sure why, I'm still young, celebrities will always be getting married... I don't want to get married for the sake of the wedding.  But still I feel envy, as though I am being left behind, as if I am stuck in my youth not moving forward and becoming the women I always imagined?

I need to spend more time with my single friends and remember I am still way off 30, and that marriage is not the light at the end of the tunnel - there is a whole life atfer that of commitment to one person (hopefully the right person, I am not a fan of divorce).

Being in a couple and hanging out with your single friends is hard though, you become a couple, doing everything together, being apart seems hard, there is no need to be 'cool' and go to bars or clubs any more... this is a ridic statement, and a cliché but its still true in itself!  We all are just looking for that person to couple up with and snuggle on the couch...

Budget Troubles!

So we went to this wedding on Friday, I was just extra (didn't actually know the Bride and Groom)... boyfriend went to Uni with the Groom.  From the beginning this wedding looked like it was poorly organised (from the guests point of view).

They invited 50 of their closest family and friends to the wedding service and reception... both were held in a venue no where near where they live and far away from any guests.  The church was an hours drive from the reception venue... the venue it self was beautiful, but the area it is in can only be described as the butt whole of England, not helped by the endless rain.

The problem was that unfortunately this couple were obviously on a budget, but trying to include everything and everyone...

They obviously wanted their friends and loved ones to attend but couldn't afford to feed 100+ people so only invited friends to the wedding and reception then the guests other halves were invited to the evening party - upsetting many guests (which to me was very selfish of the guests).  They then tired to add number to the day by cutting the drinks down to 2 glasses per head and adding a Saturday BBQ for the partners who couldn't attend the day... (which wrapped early as not many people attended)!

Many couples apparently fought about one half only attending the evening as it added cost, or waiting time or guilt as to weather only one should go... or not wanting to go and spending 8 hours in the sh*tty Premier Inn looking out over the A1 for 8 hrs but knowing your boyfriend really wants you with him!!

In the end the partners went and sucked it up or just didn't go...

What I have learnt from this is if you are on a small budget keep it to a small crowd, always pay for more than 2 drinks for your guests and don't put an extra day on for whiny girlfriends/boyfriend of friends - the people you have invited have spent money and taken time to spend this day with them make sure its the best day everyone can have - including you, you don't want to spend the day worrying.

Things I would do different:

* Ensure my guests have enough to drink
* Consider guest - they've taken time off work (if during the week) / paid money to travel + for hotels + for clothes and gifts
* Don't change plans because you can't make everyone happy
* Ban drugs from the wedding - SO RUDE
* Think about the logistics

- As a PA/EA I think about making things as easy as possible for my boss at all times, I would have this approach to my wedding as well, for myself and my guests.

Proposal Kittens

So I've decided that the best way to ever be proposed to would be, for me with a kitten in a basket with a diamond tied on with a cute little bow.  Who could say no to that?

I really want a second cat, but I'll wait until after Christmas... maybe if I am lucky I'll get a proposal kitten (black and white fluffy with the little bib and booties), blue bow in a basket... :-)
